About the Author

S A Chandler is the pen name of Samo Chandler, a film editor and lecturer who has spent his working life telling stories one cut at a time. A War With No Last Chapter is his debut novel and the first in the From the Beyond World series.

Samo grew up on his mum's bedtime stories and a shelf of Goosebumps and Animorphs. The NeverEnding Story, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth taught him fantasy could be strange, frightening and funny. Final Fantasy did the rest. The Beyond World began as a collaborative story he dreamed up at fifteen, and it never let him go.

After studying Film and Video at the University of Wales, Newport, he worked as an assistant editor in Cardiff Bay, cutting work for S4C, BBC, Channel 4 and independent cinema. His student drama True Repose won the Molinare Award for Best Post-Production at the British Student Film Festival. Since 2016 he has taught editing at the University of South Wales. The edit suite shaped how he writes: an ear for pacing, and a habit of cutting anything that doesn't earn its place.

He lives in South Wales and writes late into the night. Away from the desk, he designs the programme for the Iris Prize, the LGBTQ+ film festival, and is working on the documentary Does She Have Wings? He watches films of every kind, reviews them on Letterboxd, binge-watches dramas and has an obsession with Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
